Geoff Tristram has been a professional
artist for nearly thirty years, during which time he has worked for hundreds
of well-known companies on a huge variety of paintings.
He has also painted many private commissions and occasionally found time
to give art lessons and talks to various societies and colleges. He seldom
exhibits because virtually every painting is commissioned, which leaves
precious little time for speculative work.
In the 1980’s he painted several postage stamp collections, including
the Charles and Diana Royal Wedding, Bermuda’s Miss World edition,
The Lake Placid Winter Olympics and Spain’s World Cup Football series.
Geoff has been asked to paint portraits of World Champions, Premier League
sportsmen, chairmen and celebrities, and has worked for such companies as
Tarmac,
WH Smith and the BBC. . His cartoons are regular feature of The World Snooker
Championships, and he has even designed a box for Trivial Pursuit!
When David Vine retired from broadcasting and Peter West before him, it
was Geoff who was asked to produce the commemorative oil painting.
Not all of his sitters are well-known, however! His oil paintings of loved
ones ensure that the family will have heirlooms that will last for hundreds
of years, a thought which gives him immense satisfaction.
The time Geoff spent as an illustrator has made him extremely versatile,
and he believes a good artist should be able to tackle virtually any subject
with equal success. Over the years he has created artwork for a wide variety
of uses, such as greetings cards, fine art prints, advertising and packaging.
He is currently working on an animated series of his cartoon character,
Malcolm, and has recently followed in his younger brother’s footsteps
and begun writing comedy novels! (David Tristram is a professional comedy
playwright with more than twenty successful plays under his belt, which
are performed worldwide.)
